How to Adapt in the USA

Moving and adaptation in USA to new living conditions is a real psychological trauma for immigrants. This is one of the most difficult tests, away from the familiar home. It is not possible to cope with this, from a psychological point of view, immediately, not quickly, and not even for everyone. Here are some tips to make the process simpler.

Prepare all educational documents in advance

Despite the fact that, most likely, you need to start your life from scratch, you can take care of a higher start in a new country in advance. Prepare a translation of educational documents, put an apostille at the local department of education, confirming the authenticity of the diploma. This will allow you to confirm your education, get a license, and start working.

Do not postpone your job search

If you have a work visa, then the job search is a passed stage. However, many immigrants come to the United States for other reasons: immigrant visas, the O-1 program for gifted people, political asylum, filling i 589 form, etc.

Immediately after moving and renting a place to live, send your resume to different companies and go to interviews. This will give you a better chance of finding a job in the shortest possible time and getting your life back on track.

Get a Driver’s License

Firstly, life in the United States is much more convenient with a car.

Secondly, a Driver License is the most frequently used identification document (ID) in the USA, which essentially replaces a passport: during domestic flights, when applying for documents for renting an apartment, insurance, a bank account.

It is important to note that even if you do not know how to drive a car, you can and should get a Driver License without the right to drive a vehicle. Such a document is issued for the same purposes – as an ID or identity document.
